NEWS update
BRINGING HOPE TO A NEW
September 2009

There is a verse in the Bible which says “every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good” (Romans 8:28 The Message). This was definitely our experience during September!

Trials can turn into good testimonies if we keep our attitude right. Through our strange experiences of being ‘investigated’ by immigration, we have all learnt to stay strong and not waiver in our determination to do everything the right way and not bow to fear and intimidation. One result of the immigration investigation is that our profile has been raised with social welfare and this is very much to our benefit!

Birthdays in September: Hamisi (14), Arnold (8), Careen (11), Rebecca (17), Vincent (7), Mwajuma (10)

Mama news:

We hired a new mama for Magorofani B house! Her name is Donatila, and though very young, she is doing a great job and all staff and kids are enjoying having her on board. The atmosphere in the house has become very joyful, and playful – perfect for the young children she oversees! Zainabu and Ally love her!

Rose has increased the mornings she helps Teacher Elizabeth with nursery class, and loves the challenge!

Deborah has been given her own allotment for growing vegetables – she loves gardening and is a hard worker

Hamisi was blessed with money for a birthday party – we took him and our other youth to the famous “Khans” – an auto spare parts shop by day, by night it serves the best BBQ chicken in Arusha! We had a great time, and it was so rewarding to see how our youth are maturing into responsible sociable adults.

Elibariki is now on his long school break between Primary and Secondary school. He has really stepped up, as we have been without a gardener at Chama house for a couple of weeks – Elibariki has been working every day to keep the garden maintained (assisted by Kanuti and Johnson when home from school).

Vincent was in the wars rather this month – he spent a couple of nights in hospital at the beginning of the month diagnosed with pneumonia, then later in the month had to spend another night as he happened to ‘be in the wrong place at the wrong time’ as another child kicked out and hit Vincent squarely in the back of the knees, causing him to fall and severely bruise the soft tissues around his knees – he needed a soft cast and a night’s observation. He is now completely recovered from both events.

Mwajuma has been living with her mother the past year to help make sure she takes her HIV medication, but we reached a point where it wasn’t a good option for Mwajuma any longer - her mother really didn’t want to look after her, and started keeping her home from school. So, Mwajuma has become a permanent resident of Magorofani B house, and is doing well there. We pray Mwajuma’s mum makes wise decisions for her own future life.

We had Zainabu and Ally dedicated to God at church.

Mariam, Mahija, and Faidha had a ‘sleep-over’ at Wendy and Rebecca’s house! They sure wake up early!

James found a pair of scissors in Mama Rose’s bedroom and decided to try cutting his own hairluckily he was discovered quickly having only had time to cut a chunk out at the front!

Paulina, the mother of Neema and Baraka, was thoroughly blessed by a donor who bought her much needed items for her house! She spent an afternoon at the market choosing sheets and kitchen equipment. It was fun to see how happy she was, and that she is being continually blessed for having made the decision to look after her kids herself.
